A Tuscan Dream at Waddesdon Manor
From Ancient Rome to the Coastal Mediterranean Sea, A Culinary Celebration of Majestic Wonders.
There are dinner parties, and then there are feasts worthy of the Roman Gods themselves. This was the latter – an enchanting evening beneath the stars on the Parterre at Waddesdon Manor, where time bent to the grandeur of antiquity. A 40th birthday became an odyssey through Tuscany and the luminous grandeur of Florence, a city held close to my clients’ hearts.

This was no ordinary feast - it was a multisensory masterpiece.
Gastronomy met storytelling in a realm of unparalleled creativity, visual poetry, and unbridled luxury. Ancient relics lay entwined with fragrant coastal flora, herbaceous abundance perfumed the air, and each plate of food was an exquisite homage to the art of dining at its most divine. Taking your seat at this extraordinary table was like stepping into a lost world of myth and discovery.
The air was punctuated with a sense of history, as if time itself had gathered to witness this feast. Each course was an invocation, each sip a whisper to the past, summoning the ancient Gods to dine among the guests. My brief was to produce a masterpiece - an unforgettable birthday celebration that blended artistry, luxury, and the spirit of Italy, a time-capsule into her mythical past.

With Waddesdon Manor as the grand stage, I designed an intimate yet awe-inspiring alfresco gathering, where every detail shimmered with excellence. The feast had to be exquisite, the storytelling immersive, and the entertainment nothing short of extraordinary.
I sought to weave together two breathtaking aesthetics: nature’s raw beauty and the grandeur of the palatial - for a dining experience that felt like stepping into a mythic dreamscape. Inspired by Ancient Rome, the artistry of Florence, and the celestial symbolism of antiquity, I carefully curated a trove of objects and relics, as if they had been lost to the sea for centuries, only to resurface just in time for this extraordinary celebration.
As a Producer
I conceived the design, produced and delivered all aspects of this complex private event within the grounds of a Grade 1 listed heritage site.
The Design
The design was a luxury triumph, all created by me. At the heart of the concept, a lush, cascading arrangement of coastal flora and aromatic herbs paid homage to Italy’s vibrant shores, their hues and fragrances evoking a sense of untamed wonder. This natural abundance was balanced with opulent refinement.
Concierge, Logistics and Event Planning
Before stepping onto the enchanting Parterre of Waddesdon Manor, guests were first transported into a world of avian wonder. The air shimmered with a symphony of birdsong from the historic Aviary, an extraordinary reception space teeming with life and vibrant energy. From space to space, I managed a logistics team, client concierge and an event management plan that ensured the evening run like clockwork.
The Highlights
Immersion wasn’t limited. In fact, it permeated throughout the senses and especially during dinner where I designed a sumptuous five-course meal celebrating the very best of seasonal cuisine and a gastronomic theme on Ancient Rome and Artistic Florence.
Up Above and Down Below
The menu was inspired created using ingredients you might find below the waves and above the ground, representing antiquity and discovery. A seafood bisque with squid ink and lobster tapioca wafers was served in boxes of sea shells filled with lemon vapour to start; followed by cured salmon with chilled lemongrass, cucumber and ginger broth, served in small fish bowls.

The Roman Gods
As the sun dipped behind Waddesdon Manor’s formal gardens, casting a golden glow over the Parterre, the air was laced with warmth from glowing flame cauldrons. Roman deities stood watchful, their stone gazes lending an air of divine presence, as guests indulged in a feast worthy of the gods.

Dinner With Friends
Relics, perhaps once claimed by the ocean’s depths, entwined with sea-kissed vines and fragrant tendrils of rosemary, bay, and wild herbs produced the most heavenly scent. A sense of the present mixed with history, as if time itself has gathered to witness this feast, enjoyed amongst friends.
